Every integration is optional and lives in compat/<modid>/. Plantations runs without any of them.

Guidebook: Patchouli

The Grower's Journal
The Grower's Journal

The Grower's Journal (a book and any seeds) opens a Patchouli book with 12 categories and an entry for every block and item. Hover any of them and press Patchouli's book key to jump to its entry. Without Patchouli the journal says it needs the mod.

Recipe viewers: JEI, EMI, REI

Both viewers get the same content from one viewer-neutral layer, compat/viewer. ProcessDisplays turns recipes and data maps into displays (inputs, outputs, notes). ViewerInfo holds the info pages. MarketDisplays holds the black market.

The shaped and shapeless crafting recipes (including quality_shapeless and microbe_shapeless, both shapeless at heart) appear in the normal crafting category.

Info pages cover items that no recipe makes: ores, harvests, mushrooms, cuttings, and what the IMO box, compost bin, worm bin, bokashi bucket and tea brewer produce. Their texts are in ViewerInfo.TEXTS.

  • JEI: compat/jei, one generic ProcessCategory for all the shared categories.
  • EMI: compat/emi, a native plugin with ProcessEmiRecipe, info recipes and workstations. EMI skips the JEI plugins of mods that have their own EMI plugin, so the black market is in the EMI plugin too.
  • REI: no plugin of its own. REI shows JEI plugins through its official compatibility layer (REI Plugin Compatibilities), so the JEI categories appear there. That avoids a third copy of every layout.

Disabled plants leave the JEI ingredient list (see CONFIG.md).

Tooltips: Jade, WTHIT

Both show the same lines, built by the shared compat/tooltip/BlockInfo. Block entities build them on the server, where the state is current, and send them as NBT. Crops without a block entity are built on the client from the synced bed below.

Block entities describe themselves through content.Inspectable; the right-click status messages use the same texts. Plain containers (seed bank, ice box, Dead Drop) are exempt, because both mods already list what they hold.

  • Jade: compat/jade. One provider for every block entity (server data) and every block (the tooltip), switchable under Plugin Settings โ†’ Plantations.
  • WTHIT: compat/wthit, registered in waila_plugins.json. WTHIT's API is a compile-time dependency only.

Tags, KubeJS, CraftTweaker

Pack tweaking: tags, data maps, registries, recipe JSON and tested KubeJS and CraftTweaker examples are in modpack-devs.md.

Create

Create farms work with every Plantations crop, and Create's machines run part of the mod's processing.

  • Mechanical Harvester: it harvests ripe crops like vanilla ones (CropBlock at full age). Plantations follows up (plant.MachineHarvests, no Create code needed):

    • the bed counts the harvest, for no-till maturity
    • perennial shrubs (coca, khat) go back to their regrowth stage instead of stage 0
    • a replanted annual keeps its genes, as with the mod's own Auto-Harvester

This works for any harvester that breaks a ripe plant without a player and replants it, and for explosions without the replant. The Mechanical Plough breaks crops like vanilla ones and doesn't till the mod's beds.

  • Recipes, skipped without Create (neoforge:mod_loaded):

    MachineRecipes
    Crushing Wheelswheat โ†’ wheat bran (+25 % more, 25 % seeds); charcoal โ†’ 2 wood ash (+50 %); every Plantations ore โ†’ 3 of its mineral (+50 %, 75 % experience nugget, 12.5 % stone)
    Mechanical MixerGrow (3 N + 1 P + 1 K) and Bloom (1 N + 2 P + 3 K) from the fertilizer input tags, 2 bags each, like the Fertilizer Mixer

The millstone keeps Create's own wheat โ†’ flour. Cannabis isn't milled, because Create's plain outputs would lose its quality; the mortar keeps it.

  • Rotation Drive (Create only): andesite casing, a shaft, a copper ingot and redstone.

    • Place it against a Plantations machine (it faces the side you click) and run a shaft into its back.
    • Each RPM gives 1 FE/t to that machine, at 2 stress units per RPM. 16 RPM run the Fertilizer Mixer (10 FE/t) or the Compost Tea Brewer (4 FE/t); it works for any FE-powered Plantations machine.
    • It only feeds the mod's machines, so it isn't a free FE generator for other mods.

Without Create the same harvest checks run through a vanilla break-and-replant.

Farmer's Delight

Recipes and tags only; no FD code is needed, and every recipe loads only with FD (neoforge:mod_loaded) and only while its plant is enabled.

  • Rice:

    • FD's rice is c:crops/rice, so it steams into Steamed Rice for the IMO Box.
    • FD's cooked rice baits the box directly (plantations:imo_baits), and the bowl comes back.
  • Cutting board (any c:tools/knife, which includes the Harvest Knife):

    • Dried Poppy Pod โ†’ 3 opium poppy seeds (+50 % one more)
    • Datura Pod โ†’ 2 datura seeds
  • Cooking pot:

    • Poppy Seed Cake ร—2: 2 poppy seeds, 2 wheat, sugar, an egg
    • Coca Tea: 2 dried coca leaves, served into a glass bottle

Pot-made tea carries no quality (it sells as average). The crafted tea keeps the leaves' quality, and so do the edibles, which stay crafting-only for that reason.

  • Rich Soil (decided): FD's rich soil and its farmland are growing media (plantations:rich_soils in plantations:growing_media). They act as a rich organic bed without tracked stats:

    • growth as on a well-fed bed (90 %), quality cap 85 %
    • better than plain farmland (75 %, 60 %)
    • no maturity, so a mature Raised Bed still reaches 100 %
    • FD's own rich-soil growth boost works on the mod's crops as on any crop

Market values derive from the cheapest recipe, so FD's pot tea lowers coca tea's derived price. The documented price sheet describes Plantations alone, and its test skips while a recipe-adding mod is loaded.

Serene Seasons

With Serene Seasons installed, outdoor grows follow the seasons. The compat (compat/sereneseasons) feeds the season into plant.Seasons; without it there are no seasons.

  • Crop fertility: each crop is in Serene Seasons' crop tags for the seasons it grows in. Out of season it stalls the way Serene Seasons handles any crop (greenhouses still work). Its seeds carry the same item tags, so their tooltips show the seasons.

    CropSeasons
Cannabis, coca, khat, salvia, cloverspring, summer, autumn
    Opium poppyspring, summer
    Daturasummer, autumn
  • Cannabis flowers in autumn: outdoors (sky light 10+, glass counts) the days only count as short from late summer through winter, so a spring sowing grows vegetatively through summer and flowers in autumn. In tropical biomes the days are short all year. Indoors nothing changes: a 12/12 timer or an autoflowering genome decides.

  • Cyanescens fruits in autumn: Wood Chips fruit only from early autumn to early winter, still only in cool biomes and shade or rain.

Botany Pots

Every plant grows in a Botany Pot. The recipes are JSON that loads only with Botany Pots and while the plant is enabled.

  • Soils: the plants take Botany Pots' dirt soils; the mushrooms its mushroom soils (mycelium, podzol, mushroom blocks). The mod adds soils too: Garden Bed (+15 % growth) and Raised Bed (+25 %) count as dirt, Wood Chips (+10 %) as mushroom soil.
  • Quality (decided): pots ignore the soil, climate and genetics systems, so their harvests come at a fixed 50 % quality band, the market's average. Beds, genetics and processing stay the way to better produce. Pot harvests carry no genes, and latex (knife) and pollination stay field mechanics.

Mekanism and Immersive Engineering

With either tech mod installed, every mineral input can be made with its machines.

InputMekanismImmersive Engineering
Saltpeter, apatite, potash, sulfurEnrichment Chamber: each Plantations ore โ†’ 4Crusher: each ore โ†’ 3 (+50 % one more)
Wood ashCrusher: charcoal โ†’ 2Crusher: charcoal โ†’ 2
UreaHydrogen into the Ammonia Synthesizer (below)from the mod's minerals as usual
Superphosphatethe Acidulator, from the processed apatite and sulfurthe same

IE also makes saltpeter (crushed sandstone) and sulfur itself, and the Fertilizer Mixer takes them through c:dusts/saltpeter and c:dusts/sulfur.

  • Mekanism hydrogen: the Ammonia Synthesizer exposes Mekanism's chemical capability (compat/mekanism), so pipes or an Electrolytic Separator next to it fill a 4000 mB hydrogen buffer. With hydrogen the machine only binds nitrogen: 250 mB hydrogen and 10 FE/t (1000 FE) per Urea instead of 250 mB water and 40 FE/t. Its status line shows the hydrogen.
  • IE Garden Cloche: cannabis, opium poppy, coca, khat, salvia and datura grow in it on dirt, a Garden Bed or a Raised Bed. Like Botany Pots, the harvests come at a fixed 50 % quality band, and seeds come by chance. The mushrooms stay with their own chain.
  • Thermal: Thermal Expansion has no release for Minecraft 1.21.1 (the latest is 1.20.1), so there are no Insolator recipes. They're on the list for the 26.1 port if Thermal ships there.

Without Mekanism the same hydrogen run is fed directly.

Black market in modpack economies

The market's JEI/EMI categories (offers and values) are under Recipe viewers. The Dealer's Jade/WTHIT tooltip (your tier, today's hot product) is under Tooltips.

  • Numismatics and Lightman's Currency: config blackMarket.currency takes NUMISMATICS or LIGHTMANS. The Dealer then pays and charges in that mod's coins, and the leftover fraction goes onto the ledger as usual. The rates (in compat/numismatics and compat/lightmanscurrency) put 1 credit at one spur or one copper coin:

    ModeCoins (credits)
NUMISMATICSspur 1, bevel 8, sprocket 16, cog 64, crown 512, sun 4096 (Numismatics' own rates)
    LIGHTMANScopper 1, iron 10, gold 100, emerald 1,000, diamond 10,000, netherite 100,000 (Lightman's default chain)

The coins are plain items, so there is no code dependency. Without the mod, the mode falls back to banknotes. A pack that changed Lightman's chain can list its own coins with CUSTOM and customCurrency.

  • ProjectE: compat/projecte registers an EMC mapper. Every Plantations item with a market value gets that value as EMC at 25.6 EMC per credit, because the market's anchor, an iron ingot, is 10 credits and 256 EMC. Banknotes, rolls and bricks get their face value. Other mods' items keep ProjectE's own EMC. The mapper runs after every datapack reload, so changed market values carry over, and it can be switched off in ProjectE's mapping config ("PlantationsBlackMarket").

  • FTB Quests: an example chapter is in examples/ftbquests/quests: one quest per reputation tier (advancement tasks on plantations:black_market/*) and two contract quests after the first sale. The contract quests use a stat task on plantations:contracts_completed, a vanilla statistic that counts delivered contracts. Copy the chapter into config/ftbquests/quests/chapters/ and merge the lines of lang/en_us.snbt into the pack's own file.

  • Offers, values and contract templates are datapack files, so KubeJS's kubejs/data folder or any datapack can add them; see modpack-devs.md.

The FTB Quests chapter was loaded in All the Mods 10.
